Fredericksburg, Texas – With winter weather conditions forecasted in the Texas Hill Country, City of Fredericksburg buildings, facilities and offices will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
Since wind chills are expected in the single digits with some accumulation of snow and ice, officials have made the decision to close the following: City Hall, Animal Shelter, Gillespie County Health Division, Law Enforcement Offices, Municipal Court, Recycling Center and Sanitary Landfill.
Emergency personnel and public works crews will continue to be available throughout the duration of the weather event to respond as needs arise. Trash pickup will continue for those with a Tuesday collection day, although the timing may be delayed until travel is deemed safe.
Citizens are encouraged to avoid unnecessary travel and to use caution when driving, especially on bridges and overpasses. The area is under a Cold Weather Advisory until Wednesday morning and the National Weather Service is encouraging the protection of people, pets, plants and pipes.
