Completed Patriot's Flag Mural

REGISTRATION WILL OPEN at 8:00 A.M. ON WEDNESDAY, MARCH 25, 2026

The City of Fredericksburg is inviting residents to take part in a meaningful community art project commemorating the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States.

In partnership with Mural Mosaic, an internationally recognized public art company based in Canada, the City will host free, hands-on art experiences where participants will paint individual tiles that will come together to form a large-scale mural. Once completed, the mural will be permanently installed at the new Fredericksburg City Hall, serving as a lasting symbol of community, creativity, and patriotism.

Participants must register in advance at no cost to reserve a date and time to paint their tile. Unlike simple craft projects, this is a more advanced art experience. Each participant will follow specific instructions and use assigned paint colors to ensure every tile contributes to the final cohesive image.

Once installed at City Hall, participants will be able to locate and take pride in their individual tile, knowing they played a direct role in creating a permanent piece of Fredericksburg’s history. Tiles are 6" x 6", and participants are encouraged to bring an inspirational photo of the item they would like to paint. All supplies are provided.

TO REGISTER - CLICK ON THE DATE BELOW AND GO TO THE SPECIAL EVENTS & ACTIVITIES TAB AND LOCATE COMMUNITY ART PROJECT. YOU WILL NEED TO CREATE AN ACCOUNT TO REGISTER.

Painting of the tiles will take place in the John Wm Klein Room, located at Marktplatz, 115 N. Crockett Street. Each date and time is limited to 36 participants and will take no more than an hour and a half. Participants are asked to show up on time to watch a short instructional video on how to paint their tile, before beginning the project. Dates and times are as follows:
