The Special Services Division primarily provides administrative support to the Chief of Police for various initiatives, including community programs and project management.
Duties Include:
- Developing and maintaining the department's policy manual and presenting policy changes to the Chief of Police.
- Ensuring the department meets all accreditation requirements and maintaining its accreditation.
- Coordinating internal training, looking for external training opportunities, and making sure that all personnel meet the training requirements.
- Writing and applying for grants to fund equipment or projects.
- Managing different outreach programs including the Summer Youth Program, Blue Santa Program, Prescription Drug Take Back, Community Education, and more.
- Providing support and training for Fredericksburg Volunteers in Police Support.
- Enforcing the City of Fredericksburg's Regulations and Codes
