The Patrol Officers of the Fredericksburg Police Department offer protection and assistance to the citizens residing within the city limits of Fredericksburg. They also cater to the needs of the numerous visitors who come to our city throughout the year. Their presence, law enforcement activities, and public education efforts serve as a deterrent to criminal activities. The Patrol Officers are the first responders in our community and also represent the department's image.
Duties Include but are not limited to:
Enforcement of laws and the prevention of crimes including controlling traffic flow, conducting investigations, and providing police protection to safeguard lives, property, and the constitutional rights of citizens.
Patrolling the City to preserve law and order, discovering and preventing the commission of crimes, and enforcing traffic and other laws and ordinances.
Responding to general public service calls and complaints.
Conducting a variety of criminal investigations.
Performing duties necessary for emergency operations, testifying in court as both witness and expert testimony.
Responding to medical emergency calls providing basic first aid and CPR as well as providing first-line crisis intervention in domestic disputes, suicide situations, and mental health individuals.
Maintaining contact with citizens and visitors regarding law enforcement procedures, to preserve good relationships and trust with the public.
