Fredericksburg, Texas – As announced earlier this month, the City of Fredericksburg is inviting residents to register and take part in a community art project commemorating the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States.
Registration opens on Wednesday, March 25 at 8 a.m. on the City’s website – FBGTX.org.
In partnership with Mural Mosaic, an internationally recognized public art company, the City will host a free, hands-on art experience where participants will paint individual tiles that will come together to form a large-scale mural. Once completed, the mural will be installed at the new City Hall, serving as a symbol of community, creativity and patriotism.
Participants must register in advance at no cost to reserve a date and time to paint their tile. Unlike simple craft projects, this is a more advanced art experience. Each participant will follow specific instructions and use assigned paint colors to ensure every tile contributes to the final cohesive image.
Painting of the tiles will take place in the John Wm. Klein Room, located at Marktplatz at 115 N. Crockett Street. Each date and time is limited to 36 participants. Participants are asked to show up on time to watch a short instructional video on how to paint the tile, before beginning the project. Dates and times are as follows:
- Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at 5:30 p.m.
- Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at 5:30 p.m.
- Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.
- Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 12:00 p.m.
Tiles are 6” x 6” and should take no more than an hour to hour and a half to paint. We encourage artists to bring an inspirational photo of what they want to paint with them. All supplies are provided including paint, paint brushes, and tiles.
Participants can register online through the City’s parks & recreation software at: https://secure.rec1.com/TX/fredericksburg-tx/catalog
An account must be created to successfully register. Look for the Community Art Project under the Activities & Special Events tab.
