Fredericksburg, Texas – The City of Fredericksburg and Gillespie County are now registered to use the State of Texas Emergency Assistance Registry (STEAR) program.
Citizens with disabilities can register for the database that local first responders can access in emergency situations. To register, citizens should call 2-1-1 or register online at stear.tdem.texas.gov.
The program is designed for use in major events such as Winter Storm Uri in 2021. The information in the registry could have been used to do welfare checks on citizens with known disabilities who were without power.
Signing up for this service does not guarantee service during an event.
