Fredericksburg, Texas – The City of Fredericksburg is informing residents that early voting will not take place on Tuesday, April 21, because of San Jacinto Day, a change that affects only election activities while all other City services remain open.
All voting for the May General Election to elect a Mayor and two City Councilmembers will take place at the GillespieCounty Elections Office located at 95 Frederick Rd.
Early voting by personal appearance will begin on Monday, April 20, with no voting on Tuesday, April 21 (San JacintoDay). Early voting will continue Wednesday, April 22, through Friday, April 24, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. No voting will be held on Saturday or Sunday, April 25-26, but early voting will resume from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, April27-28. On Election Day, Saturday, May 2, polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7p.m.
The 2026 ballot will include two candidates for Mayor—Randy Briley and Emily Kirchner—following incumbent Mayor Jeryl Hoover’s decision not to seek reelection. Four candidates are running for the two available City Council seats: incumbent Tony Klein, Charlie Kiehne, Jerry Luckenbach, and Gary Neffendorf.
Voting in the General Election is open to all qualified and registered voters residing within the City ofFredericksburg city limits. The final day to submit a voter registration application to the Gillespie County Voter Register at 95 Frederick Road is April 2.
