Fredericksburg, Texas – The City of Fredericksburg’s 2024 Annual Paving Project kicked off on Tuesday, July 9, and is slated to be completed over the course of the next three months.
In total, during this year’s project the Street Department will pave over 90 blocks of street throughout town, while using over 350,000 square yards of pavement.
Highlights of the effort, include nine blocks of Highway Street, eight blocks of Travis Street, six blocks of North Lincoln Street and four blocks of West Austin Street.
The City of Fredericksburg’s Street Department Repaving Program was put in place to ensure a high-quality street surface for vehicular traffic. The program requires approximately 10% of City streets to be paved annually.
Streets on the paving rotation are patched, premixed, and leveled up, prior to repaving taking place.
For a complete list of streets to be paved, go to https://www.fbgtx.org/DocumentCenter/View/7027/2024-Repaving-Project.
This list of streets can be changed at the discretion of the City. If a street is to be added, the City will notify property owners along the street as soon as possible.
City crews will be going door to door, leaving notification at residences and businesses along the streets to be paved with information regarding the tentative date for paving. Upon notification by the City, it is requested that no vehicles, boats, trailers, etc., be left unattended on the street until after the street is paved. If vehicles, boats, trailers, etc., are in the street at the time the street is to be paved and the owner cannot be located, the vehicle will be towed to a location clear of the project at the owner’s expense.
Property owners are asked to refrain from watering lawns on the day the street adjacent to their property is to be paved to avoid directing water into the street. In the event of rain, the project will be postponed until rain chances have subsided.
Property owners are also asked to refrain from mowing, trimming, or weed-eating the grass adjacent to the street to be paved to avoid the unintentional placement of grass clippings onto the street.
The City of Fredericksburg Street Department maintains approximately 98 centerline miles of streets and rights of way, which is over 475 acres of pavement.
