The Development Services Department serves the community by providing comprehensive information and guidance on adopted zoning regulations and ordinances. They are dedicated to assisting you with all your permitting and inspection needs.

The Development Services Department is organized into four key areas to better serve the community:

Building

• Oversee all aspects of building construction, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations. The team is here to assist with building permits and inspections.

Planning and Development

• The planning and development team works on long-term community planning, zoning, and land use, providing guidance on development projects and helping navigate the approval process.

Historic Preservation

• Committed to preserving the historical and cultural heritage of Fredericksburg. Staff provides resources and support for the restoration and maintenance of historic properties.

Short-Term Rentals

• Manage the regulations and permitting for short-term rental properties, ensuring they meet community standards and provide a safe environment for visitors.

MGO Connect Customer Portal

To enhance service delivery, the Development Services Department utilizes the MGO Connect Customer Portal. This online platform allows you to easily access information, submit applications, and track the status of your permits and inspections.

Office Hours

Staff is available to assist you through a scheduled appointment or for walk-ins during normal business hours of 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday on the second floor of City Hall at 126 W. Main St.
