MGO News

The City of Fredericksburg Development Services Department is pleased to announce the launch of the MyGovernmentOnline (MGO) solution for the needs of short-term rental (STR) owners and operators.  This online service will go LIVE on January 1, 2024, and will be replacing the current STR software.  The MGO solution will offer online services for permitting including new applications, renewals, and owner transfers.  

At this time, Hotel Occupancy Taxes (HOT) must still be remitted through the City office and cannot be remitted online.  The HOT Remittance Form and instructions on remitting taxes due can be found on the City’s website at

To access the MGO solution, STR owners and operators should visit to create a new account.  Step-by-step instructions for creating a new account are available on the City’s website at  Once a new account is created, existing STR permit data should be linked to the address of the account.  Contact Jan Musgrove, STR Specialist, via email at, if experiencing difficulties creating an account.
