Charter Review Committee

The Charter Review process is an opportunity to reexamine the fundamental ways the City operates. The participation of citizens in this process is essential because the Charter is a document by which the citizens of a municipality confer powers on its government – a process fundamental to the American system of government of the people, by the people, and for the people.

The purpose of the committee shall be to review the City Charter regarding possible revisions to said Charter, determine which Articles and Sections of the Charter need amendment, deletion, or addition, develop a list of possible amendments to the Charter for review by the Committee, and finally recommendations to the City Council to call a Charter Amendment Election, as required.

The Charter Review Committee will consist of ten (10) City residents and two (2) Councilmembers. The City staff Ex-Officio members may include the City Manager, City Attorney, and City Secretary.
