Council Member Tony Klein

Tony Klein was born at the Keidel Memorial Hospital in Fredericksburg and grew up in Stonewall.  He is one of six boys, and my parents are the late Lawrence J. and Hilda Klein.  Growing up, he attended school at Stonewall Elementary until the eighth grade and then attended St. Mary’s School where he later graduated.  After high school, Tony  entered the United States Air Force and received Honorable Discharged after two years of service.  He started college and graduated from Southwest Texas State University (Texas State University) with a Degree in Business.  He began his career in banking about 42 years ago and is currently Senior Executive Vice president and member of Board of Directors for Arrowhead Bank.

Tony and his wife, Debbie, moved back to Fredericksburg over 34 years ago and raised their four children TJ, Elizabeth, Joseph, and Victoria.  "I am blessed and fortunate enough to say that all my children graduated from Fredericksburg High School and from Texas A&M University. I have also been able to share this town with my six granddaughters and take them to places such as Market Platz and our family ranch. I have watched this town grow over the years and I will continue to put in the effort to watch this city grow properly," stated Klein.

Tony has been involved in the community for the last 30 years serving on the Board as Chairman of 175th Anniversary of Fredericksburg, Chamber of Commerce, Hill Country Memorial Hospital, Hill Country Memorial Foundation, Hospital Authority, Economic Development Commission, Golden Hub Foundation, Crime Stoppers, Gillespie County Appraisal District Board, Fredericksburg Optimist Club, St. Mary’s Church Council and Finance Committee, PTC for St. Mary’s School, ACTS Team, Knights of Columbus, and Chairman of the first Leadership Gillespie County Program and charter member since 1994.

Additionally, he is also a member of the Fredericksburg Noon Rotary Club and was named Rotarian of the Year in 2008,  charter member of the Gillespie County Wild Game Dinner, Gillespie County 4-H & FFA Sales Committee, member of Market Platz Redevelopment Commission, and Food & Wine Fest for over 30 years.
