COVID-19 Testing

Due to the recent spike in COVID-19 cases in Gillespie County, the demand for COVID testing in the community has also risen.  This demand has caused a shortage of tests not only locally, but also nationwide.

**As of Friday, January 21, 2022, the Hill Country Community Needs Council will NO LONGER be distributing COVID-19 tests.**

Order FREE At-Home Tests

Free at-home tests can be ordered from  Every home in the U.S. is eligible to order four (4) free at-⁠home COVID-⁠19 tests.  The tests are completely free.  Orders will usually ship in 7-12 days.

What To Do If You Test Positive with an At-Home Test

If someone in your household tests positive, they should self-isolate and seek medical care from your healthcare provider as additional testing may be necessary.  It is recommended they seek out a PCR test for verification of the positive test.  PCR test locations in our area can be found at  Follow up with your primary physician or seek medical care if necessary.

Vaccination Locations

For those wishing to be vaccinated for COVID-19, vaccination sites in Fredericksburg include Walgreens, H-E-B, Wal-Mart, and ValuMed Pharmacy.  Local healthcare providers may also offer the vaccine.
