About the Department
The City of Fredericksburg Water Department is a municipally-owned, customer oriented organization providing water and wastewater services for its customers in an economical and reliable way. The department is consistently meeting or exceeding industry standards and practices. The department staff consists of 12 employees.

Responsibilities
The Water / Wastewater Department is responsible for maintaining over 130 miles of water mains and over 93 miles of sanitary sewer mains. The department operates and maintains the following:

• 2 effluent lines, ponds, and pumping stations
• 2.5 MGD wastewater plant
• 3.8 MG water storage, 5 storage tanks in operation
• 12 ground water wells
• 14 booster pumps
• 18 sanitary sewer lift stations
• Overall water distribution system and sanitary sewer collection and treatment system including
  • Blow off valves
  • Clean outs
  • Fire hydrants
  • Force mains
  • Lift stations
  • Manholes
  • Pump stations
  • Sewer mains
  • Storage tanks
  • Water mains
  • Wells
• SCADA system
