Create the 175th logo and win the Anniversary Key to the City

Your proposed logo should capture a part or a combination of Fredericksburg’s history, culture and/or architecture and landscapes. Which parts, how many and how they are presented is up to you! Please read below for more details regarding logo design, contest rules & submission requirements.

How to Enter the Contest

The contest begins September 13 and submissions are accepted until October 31, 2017. Submissions will be judged by the Fredericksburg Anniversary Committee and the winner will be announced in the newspaper, via 175th.org and in social media on November 20. In order for your entry to be submitted and reviewed by our judges, all entries must be submitted via the online form:

Logo Requirements

  • Professional: This logo may be featured on the 175th website, anniversary social media platforms, and other mediums (stationary, pamphlets, t-shirts etc). Therefore, the logo needs to be eye-catching and legible.
  • Theme: Logo must embody the spirit of Fredericksburg’s history, whether through capturing an event, tradition, cultural symbol, architecture, industry, person and/or landscape reflecting the area.
  • Color: There are no limitations and any colors may be used. However, logo must look good in color (if any) or black and white.
  • Integrity: Logos cannot contain copyrighted material. Logos must have been created and edited by the contestant(s). Logos may not include images or licensed images that have been previously published. Must be easily reproducible and scalable for large and small formatting.

Further Information, Terms and Conditions

Winners will be selected by the Fredericksburg Anniversary Committee (FAC), a non-profit organization dedicated to celebrating Fredericksburg anniversaries, and the winner will be announced in the newspaper, via this site and in social media November 20. Contestants agree that the FAC may publish their logo and name(s) and may use both for advertising campaigns and/or marketing materials in the future. Contestants assign all ownership rights, including all intellectual property rights associated with the logo to FAC, and FAC may alter, modify or revise the logo as it sees necessary to achieve the goals of the organization. FAC reserves the right to not select a winner if, in its sole discretion, determines no suitable entries are received. The Anniversary Key to the City is applicable only to the 175th Anniversary and events associated with it.
